Communal Roofbody Organisations:

The Jewish Community Council of Victoria is the roof body of Victorian Jewry, Australia’s largest Jewish community. With sixty major communal organisations as its affiliates, the JCCV represents the mosaic of religious, political, cultural, welfare, educational, religious and social associations operating in Victoria.
The Zionist Council of Victoria fosters a deep connection between Melbourne's Jewish community and Israel. As the roof body of an intensely Zionist community, the Zionist Council of Victoria enables exploration of expressions of Zionism.
JEMP NSW, like JEMP VIC, is a community-based initiative offering a coordinated management plan to deal with any major emergency, either locally or overseas, which affects the Jewish community of NSW.

Medical and Security Organisations:

Hatzolah responders provide a professional, high level of emergency care to members of the Jewish community within an efficient timeframe. Trained by Ambulance Victoria, Hatzolah’s responders are equipped with oxygen, semi automatic defibrillators and are well equipped to attend cases including chest pain, bleeding, full arrest, household accidents, asthma and road trauma. Hatzolah responders are on stand-by 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Community Security Group is a team of skilled and dedicated volunteers who are carefully selected and appropriately trained. The CSG exists to ensure the safety and security of the Jewish community in Victoria and is on stand-by 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Council of Orthodox Synagogues of Victoria is the roof body for the lay leadership of Melbourne’s Orthodox synagogues. COSV maintains the Melbourne Eruv and contributes to the running of the Melbourne Beth Din
Progressive Judaism Victoria is the roof body and advocate for the Progressive Jewish organisations in Victoria.

Burial Societies:


The Melbourne Chevra Kadisha is the burial society of Melbourne’s Orthodox Jewish community.
The Bet Olam Jewish Funerals is the burial society of Melbourne’s Progressive Jewish community.

Jewish Community Support Networks:

Jewish Care supports and enhances the wellbeing of the Jewish community of Victoria by providing excellent support and care for individuals and families.
The Jewish Taskforce Against Family Violence offers support, appropriate information and referrals to members of the Jewish community who find themselves in vulnerable circumstances as a result of family violence or sexual assault. JTAFV provides information sessions for rabbis, school children and the public as well as a hotline for women in crisis.
Wings of Care not only provides care for Jewish people with a mental illness but it also offers support for their families.
