JEMP is a community-based emergency management plan coinciding with the State’s Emergency Management Manual Victoria. Run by the Victorian Jewish community to provide a coordinated planning, response and recovery phase for major emergencies affecting the Victorian Jewish community whether the incident is local or abroad.

During an emergency JEMP will be able to provide or bring together and co-ordinate the activities of:

  • The Communal Security Group (CSG)
  • Hatzolah - Jewish first aid and initial medical responder teams

  • The Melbourne Chevra Kadisha
  • Bet Olam Jewish Funerals
  • Adass Israel Chevra Kadisha
  • Kosher food suppliers
  • KOOK - Melbourne's Kosher Open Kitchen
  • Religious counselling and access to Orthodox and Progressive Rabbis
  • Advice on Jewish issues that may arise as a result of the emergency
  • Jewish communal resources and infrastructure
  • Interpreter services
